Our Vision
GIS Development shall be a Global Geospatial Communication Network in Geographic Information Science, Technology and Applications and shall generate, evaluate and disseminate geospatial knowledge to all stakeholders through education, training, research, consultancy and media services.
Our Mission
As a Geospatial Communication Network, GIS Development promotes the usage of Geographic Information Science, Technology and Applications in various areas of development, worldwide and Asia in particular. It assists community and government in developing their productivity, policies and management capabilities by facilitating knowledge transfer in the domain of geographic information. It fosters the growing network of those interested in geo-informatics and encourages the exchange of scientific know-how through its key platforms: Magazines, Portal, Conferences and Training.
Advocacy
GIS Development has undertaken a number of advocacy exercises of national importance and repute that is, over the years, constantly changing the industry and market of the India and Asian region significantly. It plays a strong advocacy role and presence in the development of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) of India. It has also acted as a key player in the development of the National Map Policy of India. It has been a part of various other evaluation studies at the government level in India.
Our partners
GIS Development has numerous agreements and MoUs with international industry players, organizations and government departments to take GIS to the masses. It shares agreement with GITA, OGC, GISTDA, UNIGIS, AIT and other organisations at different levels and capacities, towards fulfilling its goal of serving for the community with GIS. It aims to be a Centre of Excellence in Geographic Information Science, Technology and Applications and shall generate, evaluate and disseminate geospatial knowledge to all stakeholders through education, training, research, consultancy and media services.
In addition, it also has annual Corporate Sponsorships which is extended to industry partners who wish to use the platforms provided by GIS Development for the entire year to promote their business across the globe.
This year Leica Geosystems Geospatial Imaging, DigitalGlobe and Rolta have become the Corporate Sponsors of GIS Development.
