Optimization of GIS Information In Railways Networks by Integration of Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and Multimedia Systems

Conclusion and Suggestion

We always need information to get better decision about our problems and obviously our knowledge is incomplete. Nowadays by development of new technology and computer, GIS can be developed, and we can store, integrate and model the information to get the better decision.

To get GIS system for railway, a pilot project have been done and we knew the object of railway and required instrument and required time.

In main project we have collected and stored the spatial and attribute information of 1596 kilometers of railway in database .

This system have been tested successfully and after completion, it's information can be used in railway company.

Some advantages of system are:
  • Data collection will be quickly.
  • There is capability to use the information of picture and multimedia.
  • There is capability to recognize and detect all visible features.
  • The situation of features around track can be defined.
  • There is capability to make picture enable us to get the information of length, width and height of features.
  • Changing and collecting of information can be automated.
  • There is capability to control and review of information.
  • There is capability that multi operator collect information in intranet simultaneously (LAN ).
  • There is capability to survey the accuracy and verification of information.
For development of this system use of a tachometer, barometer and thermometer witch can get track information are suggested. By integrating of this information and GIS information we will want to better analyze our railway in future.
