Abstract
Agricultural Geo-referenced Information System
– Natural Resource Atlas 2006

The Department of Agriculture (DoA), South Africa, has developed a web based Agricultural Geo-referenced Information System – AGIS (www.agis.agric.za).
In 2006 the developers of the system completed a new online mapping interface with improved functionality over the predecessor.
The paper describes features of the new AGIS mapping interface, as well as the first deployment of the interface using 96 spatial data layers compiled on behalf of DoA by the ARC- Institute for Soil, Climate and Water (ISCW) and presented in the Natural Resource Atlas.
