Business in South Africa, to an increasing extent, is realising the value of using spatail data in their decision making processes. As more survey data becomes available in spatial formats, the use of the spatial data becomes more widespread. The paper will explore numerous examples of spatial data available in South Africa and cover some data from other African countries. The paper will also explore the extent to which Googe Earth is being made use of currently in the commercial world.
