Abstract
The study of the relationship between lineaments determined on space images and the epicenters has shown that most of epicenters occur along these lineaments or their zones, or in the block regions, which are bordered by these lineaments, or where these lineaments and different tectonic deformation are intersected. Also, a close relationship between new circular structures and the epicenters has lately been found.
Our study for the Arabian Rift Zone- based on linking between lineaments and faults determined by space images on one hand, and the earthquakes that occurred in the region during 1910-1993 on the other hand- showed that most of these earthquakes occurred along the main and secondary rift faults or in their zone, including the faults found in seas which these earthquakes help in determining their course in the sea bottom.
This confirms the efficiency and importance of using space images of different scales and remote sensing techniques in different seismic studies.
