Abstract
The Enterprise GIS in the Public Health Organization is a look at how geographical information systems (GIS) can transform the work of a health ministry, including its hospitals and primary care settings.

The 50 minute presentation takes the audience on GIS voyage by describing the key components of the technology and illustrates how the health enterprise can begin to harness this emerging technology to effect change not only in their organizations but in the communities they serve. The audience will see compelling examples how geographic information can integrate disparate data, create intelligent geographic health information for surveillance, help redefine patient quality and patient safety, and provide new ways at looking at compelling challenges. The presentation will also illustrate how GIS can create actionable information for use by ministry officials in reshaping public policy health system action.

The presentation is intended for general audiences who want to learn more about the benefits of the technology and how it can be successfully implemented across a wide and diverse organizational structure such as a public health ministry or a hospital. A question and answer session will follow the presentation at which time the presenter will be glad to answer any questions that the audience might have.
