GIS application in the insurance sector

The Insurance Industry is a classical vertical market for Geographic Information System (GIS) applications, because the data that the industry works with has a fundamental geographic component-an address for the customer being insured.

This paper describes how GIS is useful in a number of activities that the insurance industry is involved in - underwriting, claims risk analysis and management, catastrophe response and sales and marketing of insurance products created by RMSI to assist in these activities are also illustrate in the paper.
