Abstract
Water resources planning and analysis used to take years but now with the facilitation of GIS automated process, it has trimmed down to just a task of few days. The concept of water resources planning has transformed from only planning to prediction, effective management and quick response system through effective use of GIS and computer based modeling. GIS application to hydraulic modeling is universal, effective, economical and less time consuming technique for river system analysis. Inadequate planning of water resources cause loss of life and damage to properties every year and leave tens of thousands homeless. We the people in the developing countries can best utilize these tools and save money, time and can efficiently and timely model our water resource system at the tips of our finger. Engineers dealing with the water in one way or the other must be acquainted with the demand of the hour and should step forward to learn and apply new techniques to serve our province best by making use of the GIS application to water resources projects. It is the slogan of the time, demanding engineers in the developing countries to play their vital role in efficient water resources planning, management, and prediction in developing.

The paper outlines the complete process of automated hydraulic modeling for the prediction, management and mapping of the flood. It can be use as a tool to save lives and properties by efficient application of the modern tool like GIS available to us.

This paper will also walk you through the introduction of the GIS application to hydraulic modeling using the software and will explain the importance and advantages of automated hydraulic modeling.
