Abstract :
As an aftermath of the Tsunami Disaster on December 26, 2004, the Andaman coastal area has been vastly devastated. In Thailand, the affected area includes 6 southern provinces, Ranong, Pangnga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang and Satun. Recognizing the significance of the disaster and its devastating impact, Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency : GISTDA of the Ministry of Science and Technology has acquired and procured relevant satellite imageries immediately after the disaster with collaboration of Chulalongkorn University, Space Imaging South East Asia Co. Ltd. and Mappoint Asia Co. Ltd. , GISTDA has established a specialized center to aggregate relevant satellite imageries prior to and after the disaster, along with GIS data and other relevant information collected from the affected area. The Center utilizes high-level technology to integrate all relevant information, which can be used by different organizations to provide aids and recovery assistance to the affected communities.
