The problem of degradation hazards in Arunachal Pradesh - a case study R.P. Singh A.B.S. Mahavidyalaya, Bihar The problems of degradation Hazards have been studied at different landform units, delineated by visual interpretation of False Colour Composite of Landsat imageries of Arunachal Pradesh. The types of degradation are overgrazing, shifting / jhum cultivation, deforestation, mass movement, depletion of natural vegetation, erosion of fertile top soil covers, floods, earthquakes, storms, ecological disturbance etc. are responsible for degradation hazards. The mass movement types are topple, blockslide, creep, while those of erosion, types are ravine, gully, rill, sheet etc. The study reveals that 45 per cent of total geographical area of the state is affected by degradation hazards and extent of degradation in each physiographic unit of state is calculated with different parameter. |
