Three-dimensional visualization of Zhao Ping Tai reservoir based on virtual reality and Internet

ABSTRACT
High resolution DEM is created based on original topographical maps of reservoir area. After the quality of DEM is approved reliable, topographical analysis, visibility analysis and reservoir volume computation are studied based on DEM. To obtain and display water conservancy information, three-dimensional visualization system is designed by combining ASP and Virtual Reality technologies. Through Internet users can manipulate virtual model of reservoir area to roam, fly, and rotate. Users can also inquire and browse reservoir volume, some engineer maps and analysis results. To maintain fluency when data is too large, a compress technique is used.
