Abstract:
The "Environment" has a universal concept. While urban and urban planning provides a confined image of the concept of environment in our minds, this concept involves all phenomena which urban and urban planning are also among them.
What I 'm going to emphasis in this paper, is the complexity of environment.
Many of scientists and experts believe that we live in an era which confronts the largest crisis ever happened and also a lot of problems in the world and environment strengthen the existence different approaches about the future of mankind in the universe.
It seems that even the most optimistic experts express concerns about the state of environment and future of the Globe.
From the view point of planning and environmental assessments, improper use of land and incorrect management have increased the problems and disregarding the limitations and potentials of land, its vulnerability and fragility against probable changes have even increased the problems. In urban planning, because of variety and multiplicity of information which is necessary in study of the current situation and universal approaches in urban planning at present, using GIS have been largely grown and improvement of GIS capabilities and soft wares and their applications in urban planning and
Joint application of environmental and urban models and presentation of advanced models and also application of Geomatics systems for identification, analysis, assessment and planning are of obvious characteristics of this paper.
In a part, these models are applied in assessment processes by joint use of developed conceptual models, attribute data and graphical data in GIS to analyze and to contrast with the model and extract the result.
For this purpose, the necessary conceptual models, considering the dimensions of the work, are approved for application in GIS and to be used for environmental analysis.
The results in such systems are brought in the form of tables and charts.
While for large cities of the country, it is needed to study their environmental conditions and to determine the vulnerable locations and the degree of vulnerability and physical and environmental capabilities, I hope this method and utilization of urban development models and digital data in geographic information systems (GIS) to be come more common in future and there is no doubt that in large cities, application of new methods of urban management and planning and utilization of state of the art technologies can be very effective in reducing the facing crises.
