Site Suitability Analysis for Potential Solar Power Generation Keywords: - PV Potential estimation, Solar radiation, Geographic Information Site Analysis. Region: - Pune, Maharashtra. India due to its geographic position certainly posses a distinctive advantage in solar power generation which if rightly tapped can help India to meets its power requirements in a sustainable and eco-friendly manner. Today, we are facing a grim situation in terms of energy (electricity) production using conventional methods. There is a substantial difference between consumption and production. And in future this difference is going to be widened. For this elaborate use of non-conventional energy provides an appropriate solution. Using GIS we interpreted the results by analysing Orthographic Information (viz. Land use, land cover etc.), solar insolation, and parcel information. A Map was created showing the suitable sites, to harness solar power in Pune district of Maharashtra state, India.
