I am a graduate student from the Department of Geography of the
University of Amsterdam, and on June 3rd 2002 I will be conducting a GIS research
project in Chennai. This will be part of a crossover academic program on Urban
Environmental Management, organized together with Madras School of
Economics.
The project will consist of a spatial analysis concerning access and
allocation of water resources in the unofficial slums of Chennai. The project will
be supervised by prof. Baud.
At the moment it has been very challenging to find any (large scale) GIS
data to construct the base maps.
Therefore, I would kindly like to request you if you know of any
available, and accessible GIS data on-line?

We need detailed information about geodata of Malaysia and Korea.
Primary we need the following data:
-
Administrative boundaries of the whole country down to the smallest
administrative level (e.g. postcodes)
- Digitalized city maps for big cities (streets,
landmarks, built up areas etc.)
- Social demographic data linked to the
geodata (income etc.)
To be more detailed:
- I need vector maps, no raster maps because we have to put
attributes behind
- Data format: GIS eg. Arcinfo, Mapinfo
- Also the data have to be supplied in one data set
(not in sheets eg. A4) - The maps have to be very very detailed (down
to postcodes) -> only administrative boundaries, no
streets, no rivers etc.< /li>< /li><
