THE 6-TH ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE AND EXPOSITION ON ‘LASER SCANNING AND DIGITAL AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY: TODAY AND TOMORROW’
The 6-th Annual International Conference and Exposition ‘Laser Scanning and Digital Aerial Photography. Today and Tomorrow” was successfully held in Moscow, 6-8 December in the President Hotel. The Conference was organized by the Society of Contribution to Development of Photogrammetry & Remote Sensing (RSPRS) and Gazprom in co-operation with the Federal Agency of Geodesy and Cartography of Russia, Moscow State University of Geodesy and Cartography, Siberian State Academy of Geodesy, GIS Association, Russian Association for Engineering Research in Building and Construction. The companies Geokosmos, GeoLIDAR and GeoPolygon acted as General Sponsors. The company OPTEN Limited acted as Conference Catalogue Sponsor. The Conference was widely supported by Russian and international mass media editions: Geodesy and Cartography, Geoprofi, GeoTop, GIM International, GIS Development, GeoInfomatics, MUNDO GEO.
More than 220 people participated in the Conference and represented companies and organizations from 19 countries. Officials, top managers and technical specialists from Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Germany, Austria, Poland, Israel, Canada, USA, Australia, Denmark, India, etc. met each other to share their expertise and vision of the current status and development trends in the area of laser scanning and digital aerial photography.
The interest to the Conference is increasing from year to year. This year the Conference was attended by leading manufacturers of laser scanners and digital aerial cameras, software developers, professors and scientific researchers from surveying universities as well as end users of the technologies. It should be mentioned that the program of the Conference was almost equally focused on terrestrial laser scanning, airborne laser scanning and digital aerial photography technologies.
The presentation of a new VisionMap A3 Integrated Mobile Mapping System came to be a real surprise for the participants. The system allows to increase the productivity dramatically and generate DTM and DSM within few hours after finishing aerial photography session. It could be effectively used in urban areas with high-density housing.
The exposition during the Conference demonstrated up-to-date equipment for aerial and terrestrial survey, software products as well as particular results of implemented projects. Among the exhibiting companies were Russian governmental and private companies, scientific and educational organizations as well as famous manufacturers and service providers such as Optech Inc. (Canada), RIEGL Laser Measurement Systems GmbH (Austria), Airborne Hydrography AB (Sweden), Terrasolid Ltd. (Finland).
