EDITORIAL
Two hi-tech and loaded goodies are being unleashed on the terrain mapping community – Optech’s ALTM Gemini and Toposys’s Harrier56/G3 airborne laser scanning systems. The former has a formidable scan rate of up to 100Hz , a blazing 167kHz laser pulse repetition frequency or 167,000 pulses per sec and capable of operating from altitudes up to 2000m. The Harrier56/G3 a big improvement over the present Harrier56 is capable of a maximum scan frequency of 160Hz and a hitherto unimaginable 200KHz or 200,000 pulses per sec with an operating altitude up to 1660m. Both are the new years gifts to the surveyors and will be big time money and time savers. To get a look and feel of these gizmos and more join us at Map World Forum in Hyderabad, India.
The entire GIS Development team joins me in wishing all of our valuable subscribers seasons greetings and a Very Happy New Year.
