A patriotic bashup...
The online real-time global terrorism map – this piece of sinister art has been called 'a wedding of technology and human behaviour'. How does one justify the concentration of bomb-flash icons as well as those depicting kidnappings, terrorist shootings, thefts of chemical /nuclear weapons etc. in specific loci on our planet? What if the news reportings were biased? Can such mashups be used in indirect economic warfare? Is such a map really necessary? How does a country survive the onslaught of such happenings if they are disproportionately reported? And how does it combat the adverse effect on its tourism industry and maintain its status and dignity among other nations? A future evolution of this online real-time global terrorism map would be a map with places depicting 'potential for terrorism' – doesn't take much to draw terrorist activity/incident density contours and pin a Jolly Roger on the peaks. The best part is, nations with low media attention or media blackout appear as an abode of the Buddha.

1. A post by Dave links to the 2008 ESRI Developer Survey. The survey is related to ESRI developer resources - basically what you are using, how often to you use it, what languages are involved. “If you want to be heard, this is a chance to let ESRI know what you think and what you want. Get over there and take the survey!”

2. Digital Earth Blog points to a post at Mapperz about the brand new Dominos Pizza Tracker, which allows people to track the status of their pizza within 40 seconds of accuracy.
In an effort to “take the mystery out of delivery times”, this will show you when the pizza is in the oven, in the box, in the car and at your house. Right now this system is available with in US and hopefully others can look forward to access this application in near future.
