Geograph is Three
| A project sponsored by Ordnance is up and successful in Britain "The Geography British Isles" that aims to collect geographically representative photographs and information for every square kilometre of Great Britain and Ireland.
The project site features options for uploading your own pictures and searching images taken by other members as well. To know about the available images in particular region, you can click on the Map to freeze the Grid Reference display and view photos for that square.
Apart from the Map view offering, the Galleries section is interesting, and the categories contained with in like "Tributaries of the River Severn" and more are interesting. Other important feature is its tight integration with Google Maps/ Earth where you can view the recently geo-tagged photos.

The fact that this project is useful for understanding the Geography of a place through the real pictures and helping us relating it with their locations. And yes in the generation of Street View from Google, a question can arise, how unique is this project, when Google has already started providing street views. But the main advantage is the image-usage if you need any, as the pictures under this site are provided under Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 2.0 where you can copy and distribute them.
