The largest democracy in action
After voting in five stages spread over a month, the shape of India's 15th Parliament emerged with clarity as the results were announced on Saturday. The United Progressive Alliance (UPA) led by the Indian National Congress (INC), is all set to form the next government in its second stint at the hustings. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came a distant second in the polls.
This time many television channels, websites and other media used maps as a tool for dissemination of constituency information and for analyses. Be it battleground map, election timetables, profiles of key condidates, demographic information of costituencies as well as background information on the electoral system, media has gone map-savvy.
