EDITORIAL
Asian remote sensing is once again creating ripples across the globe. Following the footsteps of countries like India, China, which are known as the regional leaders in the domain, countries like South Korea are joining the bandwagon (and that too quite successfully).
South Korea created global news recently by launching two satellites in quick succession. The satellites, Arirang 2 and Kompsat-2, have started sending back images of the Earth better than the predecessors. The significance of these events can be gauged from the fact that Spot Image has become exclusive distributor for KOMPSAT-2 very-high resolution imagery.
To showcase the developments in the Africa region, particularly in the usage of geospatial technology, GIS Development has recently launched ‘GIS Development – Africa’ magazine, which would reach the geospatial community every quarterly. The overall objective of the magazine is to create a community of practice and help its members learn from each other’s experience.
