My visit to the cradle of all evolution, changed me as a person. A continent that has the worlds largest repository of some of the rarest natural resources is also a place where nature still lies untouched. One can learn how to coexist with nature from the people of Africa. In a highly consumerist outside world, this gives mute confidence that, whatever the follies of man, 'life will go on'.

The determination of a people to go back to their roots after a long colonial regime is exemplary and the World Salutes Africa for that. The thrust of the governing bodies, in the amalgamation of African countries towards the rapid but cautious march towards modernisation is laudable. The understanding of Geospatial technologies and the benefits accrued by their genuine implementation in societal development was evident among the authorities.

I take this opportunity to thank every individual who I met and specifically those who extended their wholehearted support to the cause of geospatial technology development. On this note, I would like to assure all our African friends and well wishers that GIS Development - Africa will work for the betterment of a common cause - a better geospatio-societal future for all.

No work, however well done, can ever be 'Perfect'. My team looks forward to your proactive participation and a constructive critic of the magazine to help us address relevant and useful issues.
