SDI in Singapore

Singapore Land Authority manages the Spatial Data Infrastructure of Singapore - A one-stop resource centre for comprehensive, timely and accurate digitised land data. An overview

To meet the need and demands for land data, the Singapore Land Data Hub (LDH) was established in 1989. Pulling together information from various government and private agencies, it is a one-stop resource centre for comprehensive, timely and accurate digitised land data. Managed by Singapore Land Authority (SLA), LDH has proven to be beneficial for both the public and private sectors.

Land Data Hub
The LDH administers the whole land information supply chain from the data originators to the customers and end-users of digitised land data. There are 2 main programmes under LDH - LandNet (Land Information Network Infrastructure) and INLIS (Integrated Land Information Services).

LandNet
LandNet facilitates integration and online delivery of spatial data across heterogeneous networks of hardware platform, operating systems, data management systems and GIS environments. LandNet allows government sectors to exchange and access land databases online. LandNet also enables the exploitation of the land information for the provision of value added land information services to the public and private sectors.

INLIS
INLIS integrates and packages useful information services from land related departments across the civil service and offers a one-stop for land information to the public. Whether you are an architect, developer, property buyer, property seller or someone who just wants to know more about a piece of property, INLIS can provide you with the answers. INLIS helps you discover "What's In and Around There". In "What's In", you can have ownership details, tenure, last transacted price, survey plans and so on. As for " What's Around There", you can obtain road line plans, surrounding amenities such as schools, shops, eating places and more. For more information, please visit http://www.inlis.gov.sg/

Meeting the needs
Digitised land data is a vital component of planning and infrastructure development. It also helps to stimulate creativity and innovation in the private sector - especially in the development of map-based products and services. Equipped with the experience in land data management and processing, SLA is able to, in turn, offer an extensive range of quality digitised land data to help facilitate the growth of GIS application and usage, The Digitised Singapore Street Directory Data is an electronic map showing the general locality of major buildings and roads. This digitised map could be incorporated with other information to produce useful applications and products of the future, such as transportation fleet management, on-line Street Directory on CD-ROM with classified advertisement geographically placed on the digitised map. The Address Point Data provides attributed building information such as building name, address, 6-digit postal codes and X & Y co-ordinates. Address Point Data is a useful data set for development of many GIS applications such as logistic and fleet management systems, Internet-based applications and Location-based services. As part of its continuous efforts to meet the needs of the public and private sectors, SLA is constantly making more land data available to the market. With the availability of digitised land data, all it takes is an entrepreneur spirit and creativity to develop useful and practical map-based products and services.
