e-Initiatives: An overview



India

Andhra Pradesh e-Government
  • e-Seva: The one-stop-shop for citizen services, It is the first of its kind of service in the country, providing a wide spectrum of citizen friendly services like utility bills/tax payments, issue of certificates, issue of licenses/permits, reservations and more on a one-stop basis.
  • FAST: Fully Automated System for Transport, whereby 37 offices of the Regional Transport Officers are being connected.
  • CARD: Computer-Aided Administration of Registration Department, provides end-to-end solution for the automation of registration process.

Bhoomi Project
Earlier, there was a virtual monopoly of Village Accountants over land records prevailing for many years in Karnataka. With digitization of land records, the result is evolution of a transparent and effective land record delivery system which fully addresses the insecurities and concerns of the farmers and which is now in operation in nearly all sub districts of Karnataka.
Call centres for Farmers
Under a government scheme, agricultural workers in India's rural economy will have access to an innovation, symbolic of India's booming new economy - the telephone call centre. Farmers who make the free phone call to the centre will find themselves speaking to one of the many multi-lingual agricultural science graduates, trained to troubleshoot farming problems.
Citizen-Government Interface
A dynamic website run by the Himachal Pradesh government, it allows people to search telephone numbers of state officials, fill sales taxes online, search database of stolen vehicles, download forms, access schemes meant for the poor.
Central Vigilance Committee
An Indian initiative towards e-Vigilance. CVC is conceived to be the apex vigilance institution, free of control from any executive authority, monitoring all vigilance activity under the Central Government and advising various authorities in planning, executing and reforming their vigilance work. People can now file complaints against any public servant who falls within the jurisdiction of the Commission.
Districts of India Citizen Services
The 'Districts of India' portal is an endeavour of National Informatics Centre to provide a one-stop source for all the information about districts of India at one place on the web. ‘Districts of India’ features variety of citizen services to facilitate government-public interaction and strengthen e-Governance at the grass-root level throughout the country.
Delhi Government Online
A section of this website caters to all the information needs and queries regarding the various public services of the Delhi Government, ranging from obtaining a driving license, paying phone bills to getting a marriage registration certificate made. One can also communicate with the chief minister.
Drishtee e-Governance through kiosks
Drishtee is an organizational platform for developing IT enabled services to rural and semi-urban populations through the usage of state-of-the-art software. The services it enables include access to government programmes and benefits, market-related information, and private information exchanges and transactions. Drishtee is capable of enabling the creation of approximately 50,000 Information Kiosks all over India in span of six years.
e-Choupal
e-Choupal, the unique web based initiative of ITC's International Business Division, offers the farmers of India all the information, products and services they need to enhance farm productivity, improve farm-gate price realisation and cut transaction costs. Farmers can access latest local and global information on weather, scientific farming practices as well as market prices at the village itself through this web portal - all in Hindi. Choupal also facilitates supply of high quality farm inputs as well as purchase of commodities at their doorstep.
Gyandoot
Gyandoot is an intranet in Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh connecting rural cybercafes catering to the everyday needs of the masses. Its global access services include: Commodity/agricultural marketing information system, copies of land maps, online registration of applications, public grievance redressal, Below Poverty Line family list etc.
