Land use/land cover analysis for waste disposal
Land use/land cover analysis
Land use/land cover study is prerequisite for any kind of planning and development activity. The space technology has developed very fast especially in the last decade and we have remote sensing satellites which provide repetitive coverage around the globe with better spatial and spectral resolutions. Land use/land cover study plays an important role to analyse the present scenario and helps in decision making.
Hence, land use/land cover analysis of a part of NCR has been carried out in order to analyse the feasibility of a suitable site for hazardous waste in the NCR.
Study Area
The study area extends from E longitude 77° 0' to 77° 20' and N latitude 28° 15' to 28° 30' covering Survey of India (SoI) toposheets 53 H3 (full) and 53H7 (partially) on 1:50,000 scale. The major towns falling in the study area are Faridabad and Gurgaon, besides parts of NCT Delhi.
