A GIS magazine - especially for Malaysia!

Ravi Gupta

It gives us immense pleasure to introduce a brand new Malaysian edition of GIS Development magazine.
The edition comes in a new design and look. We have been serving the GIS community of Asia and the Middle East region, through our two editions: GIS@Development-Asia and GIS@Development-Middle East. Simultaneously, through our portal and conferences like the Map Asia, we have been making consistent effort to create a vibrant platform for knowledge sharing. In line with our activities, we now take our efforts to another level by introducing the country specific editions, of which Malaysia is first in the series.

Undoubtedly, Malaysia has been a leader in overall economic and ICT development in the South East Asia. Through its proactive and pragmatic policy regime, which is keenly aware of the fast changing world scenario, Malaysia is at the forefront of technological development and usage, especially in the geographic information sector. Our new product is a mere response of the need in this region to have a platform of sharing knowledge and experience.

Hence, GIS Development has chosen Malaysia as the country for our first 'country specific' publication and conference 'Map Malaysia 2006' to be held on 3 - 5 May 2006 in Kuala Lumpur.

We are sure that we shall be able to help create a national level platform for cutting edge knowledge sharing in geographic information sciences and applications in Malaysia. We look forward to an exciting journey in direction with you! As usual, we look forward to your feedback and valuable inputs!
