We are all aware of our market expansion drive last year, in terms of print publications. We launched GIS Development Malaysia followed by Location for the Satellite navigation and positioning market and GIS Development Africa in the last quarter of the year 2006. The objective being, to provide the geospatial media platform for the industry, academia and the professionals for the specific region. But, as the market dynamics is not constant, we are required to move ahead with better service to the region and consolidate simultaneously. A thought which echoed during the Advisory Board meeting of GIS Development, preceding the Map World Conference at Hyderabad in January 2007.

Today, 'Globalisation' is a term, which is gaining more and more relevance every moment and global approach is being seen as major pre-requisite for working professionals and business community worldwide. It is quite prevalent to pick up and join together initiatives from different places Technology development, its applications, skilled manpower, policy environment. We at GIS Development, The Global Geospatial Communication Network, specialising into providing different kinds of platforms to communicate with and amongst global geospatial community, have continously strived to strengthen our global network.

Keeping in view the above mentioned points and after much deliberation and discussion, we are almost concluding to the point that we need to have far more reach at the regional level, with better frequency/periodicity of reaching our readers. The answer is, there can be no better way than 'Electronic Publications' or Ezines. We would be reaching out to the needs of the region through our 'Electronic Publications' in the geospatial domain for: South Asia, South East Asia and Africa in addition to the existing electronic publications for Middle East. These regional electronic publication would focus on the applications, policies, data standard needs, government initiatives and business issues.

We are also standing at the cross where we need to strengthen our philosophy of networking and reach, through combining various editions of its print publication into one global magazine known as 'GIS Development - The Global Geospatial Magazine'. The newly combined magazine would be very well distributed magazine amongst different continents and would serve different purposes to different continents. This Global edition of GIS Development would be monthly publication and would reach to its readers in first ten days of every month, making better frequency to most of our regional readers, who were getting bimonthly or quarterly publications. This would help to provide better frequency and faster delivery of information, which is critically important for most of our readers.

With lot of anxiety and expectation, I welcome you all to the new 'GIS Development', The Global Geospatial Magazine.
