The first GeoSpatial World 2001 International Conference at Atlanta

First annual IGUC international conference addresses emerging market trends, new product direction, and best business practices for mapping and GIS professionals HUNTSVILLE, Dec. 19, 2000 - With new geospatial technologies unfolding at a rapid pace, Intergraph Mapping and GIS Solutions, a division of Intergraph Corporation , today announced GeoSpatial World 2001, an international conference for mapping and GIS professionals who want to capitalize on their GIS and its potential. Sponsored by the Intergraph GeoSpatial Users Community (IGUC), GeoSpatial World provides professional development and productivity training opportunities, a forum for interactive discussion of business and product direction, and a chance to network with other industry professionals.

Addressing emerging market trends, technology direction, and industry solutions are the cornerstone of GeoSpatial World 2001. In addition to pre-conference training courses, hands-on workshops, keynote and plenary sessions, and exhibits, attendees can choose from more than 125 technical sessions. As an added bonus, Intergraph is hosting a one-day symposium on location-based services (LBS), the hottest emerging "new industry" that combines the technological innovations of GIS and wireless communications.

Preetha Pulusani, executive vice president of Intergraph Mapping and GIS Solutions comments on this new conference, "Staying connected with and building long-lasting relationships with our customers is of primary importance. GeoSpatial World is an international conference that focuses entirely on the needs of our global users community. It provides an exclusive venue for investigating new market trends, gathering information first hand, networking with peers, and meeting providers of software and services. Most importantly, GeoSpatial World fosters the sharing of knowledge, a key benefit in shaping better products and solutions for furthering productivity in the workplace and innovation in our industry."

The first annual GeoSpatial World is being hosted in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, June 18-20, 2001 and is targeted at decision makers, managers, staff, and users who create or use geospatial information technology to solve problems in the public or private sector, or academia. GeoSpatial World is the successor to the International Intergraph Graphics Users Group (IGUG) annual conference for mapping and GIS professionals. Conference program formats range from individual and moderated sessions to industry panels. Session themes include lessons learned from GIS implementations, industry solution applications, technical tips and methods, organization or staff management with an application focus, and integrating GIS with other technologies. Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet the Intergraph team - software architects, designers, planners, programmers, and quality assurance engineers - who create the software products, and discuss in-depth the ideas and design concepts behind Intergraph's mapping and GIS products and solutions.

IGUC Network fosters communication among users With the introduction of the new IGUC and GeoSpatial World, Intergraph has launched several IGUC Networks, forums for users to provide direct comment and feedback about Intergraph's product planning, development, priority, and direction. The Networks are ongoing, mostly virtual, gatherings of Intergraph users from around the world who have similar product, project, and/or solutions interests. The IGUC Networks are facilitated by the Intergraph Mapping and GIS Solutions management team in Huntsville, Ala. At GeoSpatial World 2001 there will be special sessions programmed specifically for Network members to interact face-to-face and focused on best practice, workflow expertise, and user innovation.

Membership in an IGUC Network is only open to individuals and employees of organizations who own or operate Intergraph Mapping and GIS Solutions' products or solutions. To join an IGUC Network visit www.intergraph.com/gis/community/networks.asp
