Globe Telecom, Airslide Test SMS/IP Gateway
The Philippines' largest cellular service provider Globe Telecom and IP-based solutions provider Airslide Systems Wednesday successfully tested a short messaging service/Internet protocol (SMS/IP) gateway in the Philippine city of Bacoor.
The field trial was structured to test Airslide's gateway's ability to alleviate SMS congestion on Globe's cellular network, Globe and Airslide said in a joint statement.
The Philippines has the highest rate per capita usage of SMS in the world, with over 30 million short text messages per day, the statement said.
