GPS-based traffic control system for Indian Airports
In a move which could portend safer skies and better air traffic management in India, Airport Authority of India (AAI) has sought the technical expertise of ISRO to test-run the usage of GPS at the country's airports. This proposal is waiting for the final approval from Government of India. On approval, a national centre would be set up for this initiative which is slated to be either at Delhi or Bangalore. The test and demonstration system is expected to be ready by 2003-4 and once successfully tested, would be deployed in various airports across the country.
