Mobile Location Based Services In Switzerland

Boulder, COLO. - December 20, 2000 - SignalSoft Corporation (Nasdaq: SGSF), the platform and applications developer of Wireless Location Services®, today announced that Swiss cellular operator Orange has licensed SignalSoft software in order to deploy location-based services. By integrating SignalSoft's products into its network, Orange will be able to bring advanced, location-enabled applications to its mobile customers. Orange Communications SA Switzerland is SignalSoft's first customer in the France Telecom/Orange Group. SignalSoft is responsible for delivery and integration of its location gateway product (Location Manager) and its location-based information application (local.info™). The prime contractor for this project is SignalSoft's partner Compaq, with the gateway and applications hosted on a Compaq NonStop™ Himalaya Intelligent Network platform inside Orange's network. For its location-based service development, Orange will also work with Webraska, a member of SignalSoft's local.info Alliance who is a leading provider of personal navigation, traffic information services and maps for mobile Internet devices. "Content and advanced services are central to winning subscriber loyalty and new revenue streams," said Thomas Kohler, Head of Corporate Development Office of Orange in Switzerland. "Out of these, location-based services are going to capture the public's attention in ways unseen before. They are also going to provide valuable opportunities for businesses and organizations to actually reach out to new customers and users - that translates into extra business for us." David Pearce, SignalSoft's Marketing Director EMEA, said, "The decision taken by Orange is further proof that its reputation for providing its customers with innovative and creative services is well justified. By understanding the value of location and recognizing that SignalSoft helps unlock that value, Orange shows a commitment to providing subscribers with a rich and wide range of mobile services that are useful, personalized and convenient."
