QickBird 2 Remote Sensing Satellite may be rescheduled
After the loss of QuickBird 1 on Nov.20, EarthWatch, the US based company is now weighing different options for
the launch of next satellite in this series, " QuickBird 2 ".
QuickBird 2 was due for launch atop another Kosmos 3M by mid 2001. EarthWatch has announced that it will take its final decision
with respect to its shareholders' interest.
The cost of QuickBird 1 is estimated to be around US$60 million. However the launch was reportedly insured for US$230 million.
A commission has been formed to investigate the loss of QuickBird 1.
