Universal Map(USA) Acquires The National Survey of Britain
Universal Map Enterprises, Inc a publisher and distributor of maps, announces the acquisition of The National Survey, Inc. The 88-year old operations in the Chester, Vermont location will be continued with plans for development, headed by Universal Map's James Shillabeer. The terms of the purchase were undisclosed.
"This is a fantastic opportunity to be a part of a longstanding tradition in the cartographic industry," said Universal Map president Greg Bond. "Their strong presence in the New England area, including their extensive custom mapping operations, is a strategic match for Universal Map and our continued growth."
The Vermont Yearbook, one of the oldest books in continuous publication, is included in the purchase.
. Originally produced for farmers' use, a business directory was added in 1842, and advertising began in the 1850s. Currently there are no plans to change the format or distribution of this product.
