Unique learning expeditions to the Antarctica. From December 27,2000 to January 8,2001

    Markham, ON December 20, 2000 -

Students On Ice is a Canadian company organizing unique learning expeditions to the Antarctic and the Arctic. Over the 2000 holiday season, from December 27 to January 8, the company has organized an educational journey to the planet's frozen frontier, Antarctica, that promises to be an unforgettably enriching experience in each participant's life.

This will be an historic opportunity for high school students from across Canada to explore and experience the mysteries and wonders of Antarctica that have fascinated the world's great explorers and scientists. And the employees of DMTI Spatial are proud to be assisting Navindra Baldeo, a student of York Region, Ontario, with his participation in Students On Ice.

The young people who qualify for the program usually need corporate and individual sponsorships to help subsidize the costs, almost nine thousand dollars, associated with the expedition. In keeping with their reputation as responsible corporate citizens, the staff of DMTI Spatial has responded with financial support for Mr. Baldeo.

Chosen from hundreds of talented applicants, Navindra joins a unique team of students and scientists on this historic and exciting journey to the bottom of the world. This will be an experience certain to change their lives.

"It has always been a dream of mine to visit Antarctica and I'm looking forward to this trip very much," said Mr. Baldeo. "When I return home I hope that my experiences will help to motivate and inspire others about what we can do to preserve our own environment and to realize that the world is full of opportunities."

The Students On Ice expedition Web site will allow anyone, across Canada and around the world, to follow the student expeditioners. During the trip, daily live Internet links, via satellite, will allow the students to share digital photos, journals, and their amazing discoveries with the Web audience.
