OrthoEngine and ImageWorks
PCI Geomatics now supports Landsat 7 data within its OrthoEngine version 6.3 (digital photogrammetry) software suit and ImageWorks version 6.3. OrthoEngine and ImageWorks will support the Landsat 7 Level 1G data in HDF, GeoTiff and Fast Formats. Other PCI Geomatics supported satellites include SPOT, Radarsat, ERS, AVHRR and JERS. INSAT-3B launch on March 14, 2000
Dr. K. Kasturirangan, Chairman, ISRO announced that the launch of INSAT-3B has been fixed from 14 - 21 March, 2000 and it is quite likely that the launch will take place on March 14th, 2000 by Ariane 505. INSAT-3B is the first of the five satellites to be launched under the INSAT-3 series. It will carry 12 extended C-band transponders, three Ku-band transponders and S-band mobile satellite service payloads. The satellite is primarily intended for business, developmental and mobile communication. The launch of INSAT-3B will cater to the immediate requirement of extended C-band capacity that was depleted due to INSAT-2D failure. INSAT-3B will be launched on the 128th flight of the European launch vehicle, Ariane, from Kourou in French Guyana, along with its co-passenger, a broadcast satellite, Asia Star, belonging to the US company, World Space.

Kasturirangan, Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation and Secretary to the Government of India, Department of Space, has been honoured with the Padma Vibhushan, the nation’s second highest civilian award, on the occasion of the 51st Republic Day celebration. Dr. Kasturirangan has been awarded for his contribution to science and space technology, which has made India one of the six countries in the world with major space
programmes.
A New Space Imaging Affiliate
A new regional affiliate, Space Imaging Middle East (United Arab Emirates), has signed a contract to acquire high resolution Earth images of IKONOS. As a regional affiliate for Space Imaging IKONOS satellite imagery, Space Imaging Middle East is selling CARTERRA products and services within the Gulf States, the Middle East, Eastern Europe and North Africa. Space Imaging ME products will also be promoted through Space imaging in North America.
