Trimble Link
The strategic alliance of Trimble and Autodesk was aimed at creating integrated software solutions for land development. The first outcome of the alliance is Trimble Link, a plug-in module, which embeds in Autodesk Survey. It is a complementary product to AutoCAD Land Development Desktop software. The module allows the seamless transfer of data from Trimble’s Survey Controller.
Hydra 3-D
Magellan has announced a new GPS-based monitoring system, capable of delivering sub-centimetre motion detection in real time. Hydra 3-D is ideal for monitoring dams, bridges, offshore oil platforms and other large structures as well as slope stability analysis, plate- tectonic studies and other land mass monitoring. The system comprises software and Magellan’s GPS receivers 3D-1 or 3D-2, both designed for continuous operation and low power consumption. The system is able to compute millimetre-level solutions in real time and in 3-D. The Hydra is capable of running at a speed of 20 Hz.
Garmin GPS III
With the Garmin GPS III receiver, you can locate yourself on a map. It can also tell the position, speed, heading and a lot more to the navigator. There is also a trip planner that figures out how long it will take to get from one city to another by road. Exclusively built in for North America but one can enter street-level maps for other places also. As it is not made for India, it only shows the rough location of the navigator on an Indian subcontinent map. For details visit:
