Arc Second Brings CAD to Mobile Computing Devices
Arc Second Inc. is exhibiting its PocketCAD software in Microsoft's Partner Pavilion at the COMDEX Fall trade show in Las Vegas November 13 through 17.
Arc Second is the developer of PocketCAD, the first fully functional CAD software for the Pocket PC that allows industry professionals to create, view, markup and redline design drawings in the field.
Since its August launch, the PocketCAD family of products has drawn national recognition for the application's ease of use and streamlined functionality. Powered with Autodesk technology, PocketCAD software is designed for installation on any Windows CE 2.11 or higher-powered mobile device including Pocket PCs, Palmsize PCs and Handheld PCs. Available by CD-ROM or download from www.PocketCAD.com, PocketCAD PRO is priced at $199 and PocketCAD VIEWER at $139.
"We are pleased to have been invited to showcase PocketCAD software in Microsoft's Partner Pavilion at this year's COMDEX show,'' said Arc second president and CEO Edward Barrientos. "With the overwhelmingly positive response we have received from the CAD community, we are certain that this new concept of mobile CAD for the Pocket PC fundamentally improves the ways that professionals collaborate and how design revisions are communicated from the field.''
Potential users of the PocketCAD software family include architects, engineering project managers, space planners, job-site inspectors, facility managers, manufacturing engineers, product designers, maintenance personnel and other highly mobile users of site and facility design information.
PocketCAD files are easily uploaded to desktop programs in DXF format and desktop CAD files can be downloaded as DWG and DXF files directly into mobile devices. PocketCAD is compatible with nearly all desktop CAD software packages including AutoCAD releases 12 through 2000i.
CADENCE magazine recently selected PocketCAD PRO for the "Editors' Choice Award'' for the software's innovation, high quality and capacity to move the CAD industry forward. Nominations for the award are reviewed twice a year and come from the editorial advisory board, contributing editors and review authors, with CADENCE staff editors determining the winner.
