Eagle Point Announces Mobile Surveying Hardware -- Titan
Eagle Points Surveyors Module International (SMI) division announced today the availability of the Titan -- an expandable ruggedized Windows CE handheld computer, which offers a surveyor the choice of SMI's Data Collection or Construction Five product. Both programs are feature rich, easy to use and work with all total stations produced in the past 10 years, including robotics and reflectorless units as well as Javad (Topcon) GPS products.
Developed by DAP Technologies, a leading manufacturer of rugged handheld computers, the Titan runs Windows CE on a 166 Mz Pentium class processor, has a large 320 x 240 pixel transflective backlighted touch screen and integrated two-way communications via the Internet. On a full charge, the lithium-ion batteries last for 12 hours of continuous use (2-3 working days). The unit comes standard with 16MB of internal RAM and an additional 8 MB PCMCIA card, and has enough storage for thousands of points.
With an eye toward quality and data integrity, the Titan unit has no need for an environmental case as it is built to ISO 9001 certified quality standards, military standards of ruggedness (MIL-STD-810E) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC-IP67) standards for water immersion. In addition, The Titan comes standard with a built-in modem that, when combined with an optional SMI Field Exchange (FIE) annual subscription, allows you to send and receive jobs and data over the Internet via FTP from the field.
The Titan package comes with Titan CE handheld, choice of SMI software, charger, cable to instrument, cable to PC, telephone cable, 56K modem, HP48GX, rechargeable batteries, one year parts and labor warranty and SMI users manual. An optional cell phone connector is available to connect the Titan to the popular Nokia cell phone for true mobile two-way communications from the field.
