Kodak Sells Earth Imagery with the help of Logisoft on the Web in Five Currencies
Kodak Earth Imaging Products, a business segment within Kodak's Commercial & Government Systems (C&GS) unit, has engaged Logisoft, a leader in Internet globalization, to integrate an international currency transaction platform.
The e-commerce upgrade of Kodak's site will enable customers from the U.S., Canada, Italy, United Kingdom and Australia to use their respective local currency to buy high resolution aerial imagery of all five countries' major metropolitan areas. The Kodak solution is an application of Logisoft Global Gateway, a comprehensive methodology that enables businesses to globalize their web content and transaction processes to 50 countries worldwide.
``Kodak will leverage Logisoft's e-currency transaction platform to make online purchases through Kodak Earth Imaging Products more seamless and convenient for our customers,'' said David Ledgerwood, vice president of Kodak C&GS.
Based on the customer's location, the Logisoft platform presents the customer with the appropriate ``bill to'' currency -- dollars (U.S., Canadian or Australian), pounds sterling (U.K.), or the euro (common currency of 11 of the 15 European Union nations, including Italy). The platform then calculates the country taxes, tariffs and shipping/handling costs. It then presents the online buyer with a total price in the local currency. The buyer also has a choice of payment method: credit card or purchase order. All transactions are settled by a U.S.-based financial institution.
``Our global currency platform offers Kodak the right e-commerce innovation at a time when few such solutions exist,'' said Rob Lamy, CEO of Logisoft. ``This platform is the key to unlocking the potential of e-commerce on a global scale. Internet users around the world increasingly expect to transact business in their local currency and pay using their preferred local payment method.''
The Kodak Earth Imaging Products Web site allows visitors to locate the geographical area for the desired imagery and send it to the shopping cart for further optical or digital processing and delivery media selections. Kodak's e-currency solution marks the company's latest step to meet the growing international market for high-resolution imagery on demand. To that end, the company has formed relationships with aerial providers in each of the five countries.
