XYZ accepted as Spatial Information Portal in Australia
Earlier this year, the spatial information industry in conjunction with the
Queensland Government, sponsored a scoping study to identify the level of
interest in a Spatial Information Industry internet Portal. The scope of the
study included the development of recommended features of such a
portal.
Based on the findings, the Queensland Spatial Information
Industry Group (QSIIG) through its sponsoring organisation, QTIG, called for
offers to fund, build, manage and maintain a portal for the Spatial Information
Industry.
The Assessment Panel compared the Land Space Data and Resources
site to all of the features identified in the scoping study, even though the
initial request was for only a subset of those criteria.
XYZ.AU.COM was able to meet almost all of the criteria and features with existing functionality
or proposed future development. The public pages were judged to be able to
showcase the appropriate content to promote the industry while the Member's
section was considered to be an excellent service delivery mechanism to industry
participants.
