BLM awards The Orkand Corporation two projects under $98.5M BPA
The 0rkand Corporation has won two task orders from the Bureau of Land Management to provide consumer off the shelf (COTS) software evaluation and management, and to provide technical expertise in Geographic Information System and remote sensing technologies. Both task orders cover a one-year period of performance, and are awarded under the DOI - wide blanket purchase agreement (BPA) awarded to seven contractors with a potential value of $98.5 million over a five-year period. The scope of work under this BPA includes Computer Systems Management; User Support; Data Development and Management; Spatial Technology; Applications Development; and Business Process Analysis.
The specific task orders are ``COTS Software Evaluation and Management'', and ``Wildlife Review and Priority Setting''. Under the latter, Orkand will provide expertise in GIS and remote sensing technologies to support the BLM's National Science and Technology Center's Species and Habitat Review. Additionally, the scope of work involves similar technical support for the BLM's Priority Setting at the Mid to Broad Scale Project. The COTS evaluation project will see Orkand provide consultation, evaluation, and problem solving services relating to potential challenges using COTS operating systems, databases, spatial systems, image processing and cartographic software.
