FlyOver Maps Partnership Agreement with Xypoint; New Location Based Imagery Technology to Integrate with Xypoint's Platform to Deliver Realistic Experience on Mobile Devices
Xypoint, operating the leading software and network services platform for wireless location and commerce, today announced a partnership agreement with FlyOver Technologies, Inc. a provider of unified solutions for geographic referenced satellite imagery.
Under the agreement, the companies will integrate their platforms to present relevant location information of aerial or satellite images to mobile users. FlyOver's technology allows the transmission of a high-resolution, color image of an entire metropolitan area over narrow bandwidth communication such as a cell phone. "Xypoint's platform provides a very simple way to tap into location information generated by wireless carriers. By integrating it with FlyOver technology, one can tap the power of phone location services by enhancing the experience with real imagery." said Ken Arneson, president and CEO of Xypoint Corporation.
"FlyOver makes streaming images to wireless devices both realistic and usable," said Isaac Levanon, chairman and CEO of FlyOver Technologies. "This partnership with Xypoint enables mobile consumer to enjoy location-relevant satellite or aerial images." Xypoint's platform combines mobile positioning with SMS, WAP, voice recognition, text-to-speech, privacy and presence technology to offer wireless carriers a fully integrated platform for mobile commerce and location. The Xypoint platform intelligently routes commerce, content, and location data from multiple applications through the wireless network. The platform already leads the nation for commercial location services with more than 5 million subscribers utilizing the company's wireless E911 location services.
FlyOver technology allows the user to fly over an extremely large, high resolution, true color image with continuous, smooth panning and zooming capabilities streamed over the Internet and wireless networks. The technology is an advance over current mapping technologies that require a small, low resolution map to be refreshed each time the user wants to pan or zoom.
