Gravitate Enters Location Precise Wireless Market, Unveils Unique Software Platform Solution Format to print
Gravitate Platform Integrates Advanced Voice Activated Location System
Gravitate Inc., a provider of best-of-breed enabling technologies and applications for Location Precise wireless services, entered the market Monday with the unveiling of the Gravitate Platform, the first comprehensive software solution supporting rapid development and delivery of Location Precise services to mobile devices and telematic systems.
A one-year-old company based in Palo Alto, Calif., Gravitate is rolling out its platform with the backing of some of Silicon Valley's leading investment partners, including Altos Ventures, Semper Ventures, Venture Law Group, Launch Power and Garage.com. The Gravitate Platform is designed for use by Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and infrastructure providers, carriers and network operators, and Application Service Providers (ASP) or content providers. In addition to making the Gravitate Platform available to customers immediately, the company will continue to expand its roster of Location Precise applications.
Location Precise is the next evolution of the convergence of three technologies -- the Internet, wireless communications and mobile positioning -- allowing for a whole new class of advanced applications for wireless devices. With a Location Precise infrastructure, carriers and network operators can offer services to subscribers based on who and what is proximate to their mobile unit, providing far more relevant content than location-blind or location aware techniques.
The Gravitate Platform is location technology-agnostic worldwide as it is built on the open-architecture Enterprise Java Bean (EJB) specification, which also allows it to be easily integrated with e-business and application development partners. Gravitate, in fact, solves an engineering nightmare by offering a scalable platform allowing the deployment of multiple types of applications.
The Gravitate Platform requires no in-house expertise in either wireless programming or mobile locating technologies. The open-architecture EJB also grants the Gravitate Platform a high degree of scalability to accommodate large numbers of transactions and concurrent users.
GVoice Technology Helps Make Gravitate Platform Deployable Immediately
The Gravitate Platform encompasses all the technology, applications, servers and support necessary to deploy Location Precise services. Most importantly, the Gravitate Platform is ready now to obtain the precise location of users, even without the Location Precise infrastructure enhancements mandated by FCC E911. The Gravitate Platform's unique, integrated GVoice technology makes this possible. GVoice is a highly sophisticated voice recognition system which performs a computer-automated location query of the caller, transforms the location data into an XY coordinate, and provides the user with inherently more accurate information based on the exact location of that user.
CLoUDS System Facilitates Unique Mobile-To-Mobile Applications
While the Gravitate Platform facilitates traditional mobile-to-static applications, its advanced capabilities are best displayed by its support of the emerging mobile-to-mobile and static-to-mobile applications.
Through its integrated Client Locator and User Discovery System (CLoUDS), the Gravitate Platform allows ASPs or content providers to integrate the real-time location of subscribers and their proximity to each other or a common point of interest into the logic of any application. A wide variety of mobile-to-mobile applications can be enabled by CLoUDS, including professional networking, instant messaging, games and even dating.
