Image Web Server in ‘The Australian Financial Review Awards’
Earth Resource Mapping’s Image Web Server technology has been selected as a finalist in The Australian Financial Review Internet Awards, under the category ‘Internet Application’, to be announced on the 28th of November 2000 at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre, Sydney.
This is a great
breakthrough in recognition for the Perth based developer, more
widely known for providing spatial information systems products. The
Image Web Server has been selected based on its general innovative
approach to utilising the web to distribute large image files. The
portal web site developed to display this technology, www.EarthEtc.com
will be judged along with two other finalists in the same category.
The Australian Internet Awards were set up to recognise and celebrate substantial achievements in Internet technology. Since 1996 The Australian Financial Review has presented the award to Australian web site designers and owners for their aptitude and skill on the Internet.
Over 30 companies around Australia submitted an application for the ‘Internet Applications’ category with only three finalist’s chosen. ER Mapper proved to be a superior candidate with their new product Image Web Server, released earlier this year.
The Image Web Server, which is starting to be widely adopted, is providing solutions for applications as diverse as management of applications affecting road traffic to supply of spatial data. The emergence of solutions for dispersing medical imagery is also certain to have had an impact on the potential utility of this technology.
Clive Poole, Regional Manager, Asian Pacific Region said, “ To be recognised in these awards, even as a finalist, represents a shift in awareness of the power of this technology. We are very pleased to see this recognition”.
