    October 2000

    Two strong partners with one solution -Intergraph and ZIEGLER-Informatics form powerful team in the GIS market

    Intergraph (Germany) GmbH and ZIEGLER-Informatics GmbH have recently signed a cooperation contract. Beginning in October, more than 1,500 CADdy customers of ZIEGLER-Informatics, with more than 4,000 installations, will receive Intergraph's GeoMedia product as a free extension of ZIEGLER's CAD systems within the existing framework of their service contracts. The partnership between Intergraph and ZIEGLER expands the number of installed GeoMedia licenses and also links the geo-computing solutions of ZIEGLER-Informatics with modern GIS technology. With this association, both enterprises ensure their top position in the German-language GIS market. The basic package, named CADdy++GeoMedia, is based on Intergraph's successful product, GeoMedia Professional.

    ZIEGLER-Informatics GmbH is a leading CAD-provider in Germany for surveying and design solutions, and Intergraph is a leader in the GIS world market. The main purpose of the partnership, based on Intergraph's Team GeoMedia program, is to integrate Intergraph's GIS platform GeoMedia into the various CADdy-solutions of ZIEGLER-Informatics. The first solutions were presented at the international trade fair, INTERGEO, in Berlin (October 11-13, 2000).

    The first phase of the partnership includes product adaptation and integration. All CADdy surveying projects can be converted by way of a CADdy data server, directly and without loss of information, to the new CADdy++GeoMedia program. This forms the basis of all CAD and GIS applications developed and produced by ZIEGLER-Informatics. CADdy++GeoMedia will be integrated into the ZIEGLER-software family. With this new system, all data produced in CADdy can be accessed and analyzed together with data from other sources. Because GeoMedia has unique data server technology, alphanumeric and geo data in most data formats can be used.

    In the second phase, ZIEGLER-Informatics will develop various applications based on CADdy++GeoMedia and the GeoMedia product suite (GeoMedia, GeoMedia Professional, GeoMedia WebMap, and GeoMedia WebEnterprise). This will give CADdy++ users access to a modern Web-based GIS that makes the complex reprogramming of ZIEGLER's own Internet core technology unnecessary.

    GeoMedia WebMap and GeoMedia WebEnterprise are already celebrating worldwide success. The use of the Internet is clearly defined: modern CAD/GIS technology should not only capture and provide data but also ensure profitable use of data by communicating and selling it on the World Wide Web.

    GeoMedia and CADdy++

    The significance of this association can be understood by looking at the market situation/market share of both enterprises. ZIEGLER-Informatics has a strong user group with more than 4,000 installations in surveying, local government, and utilities. ZIEGLER-Informatics CAD systems claim a top position in Europe. According to recent market studies by the research firm, Daratech (Cambridge, Mass.), Intergraph leads the worldwide GIS market with a market share of 38 percent (software, hardware, and services). Intergraph (Germany) has more than 1,000 customers.
