GITA Announces New Local Government Track at Its Annual Conference XXIV
The Geospatial Information & Technology Association (GITA) announces the addition of a Local Government track at its Annual Conference XXIV, scheduled for March 4-7, 2001, in San Diego, Calif. The new track will focus on geospatial information technology applications and issues in special districts and municipal, local, and county government organizations.
The potential of geospatial technology has always been recognized as a powerful tool for local government. The generally improving fiscal environment in many local government infrastructure management agencies has made GIT systems and solutions more affordable. Continued rapid evolution of the technology coupled with a relentless drive toward increased efficiency and reduced operating cost have resulted in many GIT success stories in government agencies.
The new track was created to provide local government representatives a valuable, high quality educational opportunity that will address their most pressing informational needs. As managers of asset networks, representatives of local government infrastructure organizations will also benefit significantly from the unique interaction with their counterparts in utilities, telecommunications and energy companies.
