R2V adds new functions
ABLE SOFTWARE announced a new release (Version 5.0.7) of R2V, its automated raster to vector conversion software for mapping and GIS data capture applications.
In this new release, R2V has added support to more image file formats, including JPEG, GIF and RLC image formats, in addition to the currently supported TIFF, GeoTIFF and BMP file formats. Images stored in these formats can be automatically vectorized using R2V and exported to a vector file formats, such as Arc/Info generate, ArcView Shape file, MapInfo MIF/MID file, AutoCAD DXF and other commonly used formats. Raster images can be geo-referenced and saved as GeoTIFF by providing user defined control points. Raw uncompressed image formats, such as formats used by satellite imagery, can be opened using R2V's new raw image import function.
Region of interest (ROI) is implemented for automated vectorization of irregular regions and image cropping. Image cropping using regions of interest (ROI) keeps image areas that are related to an application and removes other pixels from the image. This function is useful for creating image maps of an irregular region or removal of undesired image areas in a scanned map. Greyscale image processing is enhanced by the interactive thresholding function, which uses a low and high threshold to extract pixels within an intensity range. Old and poor quality maps can be scanned and processed as greyscale image to obtain higher quality vector output.
Other new functions include node snapping, polygon editing and simplified operation for joining lines. New display functions are added to allow line nodes to be displayed in different colors and display settings for geo-referenced and paper space respectively.
This new release is
free of charge to licensed R2V users and can be downloaded from Able
Software's website at ( www.ablesw.com/r2v ). The list price for R2V is US$1495 per license. Educational price is US$960. A fully functioning demo version is available from Able Software's website.
