Smallworld and OSI Join Forces to Offer Comprehensive Service, Network, and Process Management to New-Generation Communications Providers
CAMBRIDGE, England and FOLSOM, Calif. US, OSI joins Smallworld's World Class Partner Program in a Strategic Agreement to Provide Integrated Management Solutions for Improved Customer Services
Smallworld, a leading provider of network software products, and Objective Systems Integrators, a leading provider of software solutions for unified network, service, application, and process management, today announced a global agreement to jointly market the two companies' software solutions. Smallworld and Objective Systems Integrators (OSI) will offer communications service providers comprehensive, end-to-end service, network, and process management solutions.
Under their global agreement, Smallworld and OSI will jointly market aligned solutions to strategic accounts, offering advanced support for network planning and design, service fulfillment and service assurance. This solution will combine the strengths of Smallworld's network inventory solutions with OSI's Unified Management Architecture(TM) (UMA(TM))-based solutions for automating and managing service delivery and service assurance -- creating a more complete solution offering for the communications industry.
A solution that combines Smallworld and OSI technology exists today. Sykora Group (Sykora) has developed the Spatial Network Management(TM) (SNM(TM)) product, an interface which combines the superior functionality of OSI's NETeXPERT(TM) Virtual Service Management(TM) (VSM) integration and automation framework, and Smallworld's Model.it(TM) network design and modeling capabilities. The SNM interface gives service providers the ability to link their dynamic operations support system (OSS) processes and achieve greater control of their network. Sykora, an OSI distributor with a strong European presence, has been a Smallworld World Class Partner since 1996.
Smallworld and OSI already share a number of existing customers and offer complementary products to the same market. By aligning OSI's real time network and service data with Smallworld's planning data, users should be able to achieve major operational efficiencies by bringing together operational systems and business practices that traditionally stand alone. Smallworld's visualization of the network enhances the user's effectiveness when resolving problems or managing service level agreements by enabling the user to see, for example, where the equipment is, what it is connected to or what services are dependent on it.
The combined Smallworld/OSI solution builds on success and demonstrated expertise in managing multi-vendor/multi-technology networks, and currently focuses on service assurance. Looking to the future, further integration is planned for OSI's workflow and process management software component - NETeXPERT(TM) Virtual Process Management(TM) (VPM(TM)) - which adds service delivery functionality.
