XOX Corporation Introduces ShapesPlanner, the Latest PC-Based Tool in Shapes Earth Modeling Family
XOX Corporation a leading developer of cutting-edge 3D modeling applications, today unveiled its newest member of the Shapes family of PC-based earth modeling tools -- ShapesPlanner(TM) -- at the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Annual Technical Conference & Exhibition in Dallas. Fully integrated with XOX Corporation's cost-effective ShapesProspector(TM) PC-based earth modeling software, ShapesPlanner is a 2D/3D planning tool for wellbore trajectory design and quality assurance that eliminates costly mistakes and reduces cycle time since wells are viewed in the context of a full 3D geologic model. ShapesPlanner supports standard interpolation schemes; generates minimum length path subject to constraints such as pre- and post-hold, minimum radius and dog-leg severity; and computes intersection angles with surfaces and faults in fully linked 3D, map and cross-section views. Like ShapesProspector, ShapesPlanner is fast, affordable, accurate and easy to use.
``ShapesProspector and ShapesPlanner are the value leaders in earth modeling and well planning,'' said XOX Corporation President Mark Senn. ``By moving well planning and geological interpretation closer to the well site, exploration and production companies can realize significant savings. The Shapes family's portability and advanced functionality enable geologists to interpret complex geologic structures and perform site planning in half the time at a fraction of the cost. ShapesProspector is the shape of things to come in the E&P industry.''
Until ShapesProspector, which XOX launched in September 1999, complex geological imaging could not be accomplished with a PC. By integrating 2D/3D model construction, visualization and analysis, ShapesProspector produces fast PC renderings of complex surfaces and volumes; accurate horizon construction, contouring and cross-sectioning; easy-to-use fault plane construction and fault networking tools; and real-time updates between 2D and 3D views for accurate geometric modeling immediately in 3D. Today, ShapesProspector is still the only PC-based product capable of handling multiple Z values in salt dome mapping. Demonstrations of ShapesPlanner will be conducted during the SPE Conference Oct. 1-4 at XOX Corporation's booth No. 512 or may be arranged by appointment by calling XOX at 281/876-6955.
