Apic SA software publishing partner, ABSIA, opens New York office and Launches Telecoms product with Alcatel
ABSIA, an Apic SA software publishing partner, specialises in infrastructure management and is pioneering IRP (Infrastructure Resource Planning) in France. For over five years now the company has been developing its applications based on the APIC engine. ABSIA announces two major developments for Autumn 2000:
First Subsidiary in the United States
As part of the company's strategic development and strengthened by its technological leadership, ABSIA is keen to enhance its global presence. To achieve this, the company decided to ride the wave currently sweeping through the IRP market and opened its first subsidiary in New York in early June.
ABSIA already benefits from an established brand image in the US market, with its work for prestigious customers including Bank of America and Crédit Agricole Indosuez New York. In the USA - the world's biggest market for Facilities Management - the software publisher will find the environment and stimulation (in the form of the leading software companies) needed to encourage rapid growth.
In practical terms, the new American subsidiary will be charged with distributing ABSIA's range of products, maintaining the company's relationships with it's US customers and providing technical support and developing new business with customers ranging from those with large-scale real-estate portfolios to SMEs and telecoms operators. The creation of a US subsidiary will also enable ABSIA to establish a major research and development programme aimed at capitalising on the latest technological advances and eventually to move far enough ahead of the pack in terms of technological innovation to ensure the achievement of its global strategy.
The setting up of the new American operation should also enable ABSIA to become a major player in the international IRP market and to be deriving some 80% of turnover from export two years from now. In addition to the US move, ABSIA has recently sold a number of new licences for its Building One solution (based on the APIC engine) in Europe to customers including ABN AMRO Bank in Luxembourg, BASF and the European Economic Council in Belgium and the Saint-Denis Hospital in France.
Worldwide Partnership Agreement with Alcatel for the Telecom one product
ABSIA has signed an international partnership agreement with ALCATEL, the world leader in the transmission and rapid access market. The agreement, concluded in early June, covers the development of a joint offering to telecoms operators, bringing together hardware and software.
Telecom One, ABSIA's cabling software solution, will become an integral part of the ALCATEL's interconnection hardware solution, benefiting from ALCATEL's sales network which covers four continents (in Asia, China, France, Germany, Italy, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, the UK and USA).
At the leading edge of technological innovation, Telecom One, which runs on the APIC engine, offers a complete range of functionality which enables the user to visualise and manage every single element of a physical network infrastructure, whether based on fibre-optic or copper cables. For ALCATEL's customers, the main advantages of this solution include complete control over the initial configuration and subsequent evolution of a particular network, as well as instantaneous access to relevant information and data. The solution is being positioned as a vital infrastructure design and deployment support tool.
This new solution will be previewed by the two partners involved at the Telecom 'Cabling Systems' show in Paris from 19 to 21 September 2000.(http://www.cablingexpo.com)
