Intergraph Inducts Gaz Metropolitain into Prestigious 100% Club

Intergraph Canada Ltd. today inducted Gaz Metropolitain, the major distributor of natural gas in Quebec, into its prestigious 100 Percent Club. This award is bestowed upon utilities achieving 100 percent data conversion of their facility data. In the ceremony held at Gaz Metropolitain's headquarters, Robert Patten, Intergraph Canada's Eastern Canada business unit manager presented Gaz Metropolitain's Vice-president of Operations, Michel Veillette, with an engraved sculpture. Gaz Metropolitain's name will also be engraved on the granite and steel sculpture located at Intergraph's corporate headquarters in Huntsville, Ala.

Gaz Metropolitain's PICASSO system, based on Intergraph's FRAMME product for AM/FM/GIS, manages digital data for the entire gas network. The data conversion project, accomplished by Gaz Metropolitain's Geomatics Service, was a major effort over a 10-year period. During that time, the project evolved to incorporate survey data, construction drawings, special projects, and the publishing of archives within and outside the company. More than 100,000 drawings have been used to build the gas network data archive into PICASSO.

``By using software tools such as Intergraph's FRAMME to manage and maintain data, our technical teams have realized gains in efficiency and data accuracy, enhanced network development, and achieved greater competitiveness within our markets,'' says Jacques Therrien, manager of Geomatics Services at Gaz Metropolitain. With information fully converted into digital form, Gaz Metropolitain is poised to maximize its benefits through current and future projects requiring data integration, such as vehicle tracking, right of way management, transmission model management, and network analysis.
